Desert Oasis Mascot Dusty Wins National Title
Desert Oasis High School receives a $2,000 credit at The Mascot Shop for school spirit wear.
Updated on Nov. 2, 2026 in eSports
Las Vegas high school fans helped send Dusty the Diamondback of Desert Oasis High School to the top of a 64-mascot national field. The school's supporters voted for Dusty in every round of fan voting, and the title went to a local favorite.
Why it matters
For Las Vegas families and Desert Oasis students, the title is a rare national spotlight on a local school's spirit. It also marks the second year of the tournament, which was decided entirely by public fan votes rather than a panel.
Dusty beat 63 other high school mascots across six rounds of fan voting to take the national title. The grand prize is a $2,000 credit at The Mascot Shop for school spirit wear, and the vote totals behind each round were not included in the available results.

Beyond the Strip
Dusty takes over the national mascot crown from Karl the Cobbler, who won the tournament's first year in Rapid City. The shift from a South Dakota champion to a Las Vegas one puts a valley school at the top of a national contest for the first time in this format.
Desert Oasis students and families now have a national title to celebrate, and the school's spirit wear credit will be used for school gear. Valley fans who want to back future school contests can watch for next year's tournament announcement.
The takeaway
Local school pride can carry a valley mascot to a national title when fans show up in every round of voting. Watch for next year's tournament to see whether Las Vegas fans can defend the crown.
